MEVSD is currently in great financial shape!

It’s time to look back at the previous fiscal year’s finances and ahead at what this year is expected to bring.  In a real twist in public school district land, I can actually say we are currently in great shape financially and will start FY2015 with over $2 million in the bank more than projected!  This is due to a combination of conservative & responsible fiscal management; increased revenue that was not expected from places like the state funding formula and property tax collections; and changes to how we do “business,” resulting in about 9.5% of receipts from local revenue (this is up from less than 2% in 2006). Elementary building project on schedule; community forums in Sept.

The elementary school construction project is on schedule.  The project is expected to go out to bid in Feb/Mar 2015, with groundbreaking in May.  Construction will take about a year, meaning the building portion will be complete in May/June 2016.  Boyd will then be demolished and the exterior finished over the summer.  Both schools will be ready for school opening in August 2016. Athletic Update August 21, 2014

On Friday, August 29, the district will recognize Coach Bill Marran for his 50 years of extraordinary dedication and commitment to Milford student athletes. The district has officially renamed the Milford High School track, the “Bill Marran Track” and will dedicate the facility during a halftime ceremony at the first home football game. Come out next Friday to help us to say thank you and honor Coach Marran for his many years of service. Continue reading
