Athletic Update Feb 2015

On February 6th the Boys Basketball team set a school record with their 18th consecutive win eclipsing the previous mark of 17 set by the 1970-71 team. At 18-2 overall and 11-1 in the ECC the boys can win Milford’s first outright conference championship since 2011 with a road victory Friday @ Glen Este and a home victory vs. Turpin next Tuesday. They can also match the school record of 20 wins with 2 more victories.

The boys earned the No. 7 seed in the Cincinnati Sectionals of the OHSAA Tournament and will open tournament action against No. 20 Lakota West on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 5:30 p.m.@ Fairfield High School.

In Wrestling: Following a fourth place finish at last weekend’s Eastern Cincinnati Conference meet, Milford wrestlers will wrap up the regular season this week in preparation for the OSHAA Division I Tournament.  The Eagles will end the regular season with a tri-match on Fri., Feb. 20 at Walnut Hills High School.

Congratulations Girls and Boys Bowling as both programs claimed second place in the final Eastern Cincinnati Conference standings, capping the best league finish in program history for both boys and girls and one of their best seasons ever in number of wins.

Girls Basketball will open their OHSAA Tournament play against Eastern Cincinnati Conference rival Kings this Saturday at Lakota East High School. Tip off between the Eagles and Knights is set for 1:30 p.m.

The Boys Swim Team had a solid performance over the past weekend at the OHSAA Sectional Championships with two relay teams qualifying for this weekend’s district meet. Senior Paul Keefer also qualified for districts in the 100 breaststroke. The Girls Swim Team saw their 400 freestyle relay team earn the No. 21 seed at districts after finishing sixth at Sectionals with a time of 3:58.

In Diving: Freshman Joel Adams posted an outstanding ninth place district finish just 11 points short of qualifying for state. Adams was one of three Milford divers to compete in districts, being joined by Cole Dunham (18th) and Zach Lorenz (23rd). Congrats to all these outstanding Eagles!
