Congratulations, Nancy House, Milford’s next superintendent!

When the Milford school board set out to look for a new superintendent to replace Dr. Robert Farrell when he retires in December, we knew we had a tough job ahead. We needed someone who is an instructional leader with vision to take Milford to the next level … someone who believes in transparency, fiscal conservancy, and supporting our entire community … some who will continue the strong relations developed over the past 9 years with staff, parents, community members, the business community, and the county in general. Every year, the Milford-Miami Township Chamber of Commerce holds the Dinner of Excellence, where our educators and support staff are honored. Since this was Dr. Farrell’s last Dinner of Excellence, the Chamber wanted to honor him for the excellence he has brought to the Milford School District over the past 9 years. They presented him with a crystal bowl to commemorate his time here. Continue reading

Students say goodbye to current Seipelt and Boyd buildings

As Charles L. Seipelt & Boyd E. Smith elementary students wrap up the school year, they are also saying goodbye to the buildings they have called “school home” for up to 7 years. Both elementaries are being replaced with new buildings, which will open in August for the 2016-17 school year. Continue reading

Five-year forecast continues to look strong

May is the month when school boards across Ohio must approve a revised five-year forecast to submit to the state. The forecast includes actual numbers for the past three completed years; the status of the current year; and forecasts for the next four years. This forecast projects through Fiscal Year 2020, which runs from July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2020. Continue reading

Construction update from mid-May 2016

On May 16, Seipelt staff toured the new construction, and I got to tag along! Much progress was made in a month – it’s looking good! Teachers were excited to stand in their new classrooms and start measuring floor and cabinet space. For them, next up is the packing so their rooms can be transported over the summer! Continue reading
