As we look to the future and the completion of the Master Facilities Plan (replace the Junior High School and finish renovating the un-renovated portions of the High School), a group of administrators, teachers, parents, community members, and school board members are going through a Visioning process – what does education look like for our students, to succeed in a global marketplace with technologies – and challenges – we can only dream of? How do we use our facilities to support the type and style of education needed as we prepare our students for this future? Continue reading

Students say goodbye to current Seipelt and Boyd buildings
Five-year forecast continues to look strong
Construction update from mid-May 2016
Following are the highlights from both the April and May meetings, since I was not able to publish a summary in April. Continue reading
As Charles L. Seipelt & Boyd E. Smith elementary students wrap up the school year, they are also saying goodbye to the buildings they have called “school home” for up to 7 years. Both elementaries are being replaced with new buildings, which will open in August for the 2016-17 school year. Continue reading
On May 16, Seipelt staff toured the new construction, and I got to tag along! Much progress was made in a month – it’s looking good! Teachers were excited to stand in their new classrooms and start measuring floor and cabinet space. For them, next up is the packing so their rooms can be transported over the summer! I was unable to attend the last school board meeting, so I do not have my own update. Thankfully, the meeting did not cover any big or new issues; here is our Communication Consultant Meg Krsacok’s summary of the meeting, which will give you a great idea of what happened.
Also, you can always watch the full meeting on cable or the Internet – Meg lists the info in her summary.
The new Boyd E. Smith & Charles L. Seipelt Elementary schools are coming along on schedule. This month, staff got the chance to walk through the buildings as they begin to dream about their new space and plan for move in this coming August!
I was not able to attend the Boyd tour, but here are photos of Seipelt. Since the two schools are identical and inside decor is not yet done, these will give a good idea of what Boyd looks like as well.
Exciting to see them coming together, and to see the great features our students and staff will enjoy!
